DHI provides tailor-made online monitoring systems for specialised purposes such as navigation aid, warning systems for water quality and flooding as well as data to be used in numerical forecast models.
All types of met-ocean data (waves, currents, water levels, temperature, salinity, chemical and biological parameters, wind etc) can be included in specialised online monitoring systems. The systems are developed and delivered with databases where relevant and with advanced analysis and presentation tools. Data received from the sensors are transmitted via telecommunications link to local computer systems. DHI Singapore offers to receive, administer and QA/QC the data before it is forwarded to the customer or released on public or protected webpages. Data from DHI's designed and implemented monitoring systems can be stored in any database. Combined with the DHI's database DIMS (Digital Integrated Monitoring System), the user will have access to numerous analysis and presentation tools. Online data are used intensively in combination with numerical forecast models for flood or tsunami warning systems, wave and/or current forecasts etc. Online monitored data are used either to provide boundary conditions for the models or to improve model results through data assimilation.
